In the past, I've preferred using the Electro-Voice XLD281 for mid-size applications that require wide coverage. Now, I have found something much more suitable for less money: The LeraSonic8228.

I first heard about Spectr Audio in the PSW Sound Reinforcement forums. I can't recall the individual that mentioned the small footprint coaxial monitors, but after trying out four of them - thanks! These monitors sound wonderful and are good-looking to boot.

I had the opportunity to hear the LeraSonic Line Array and the ArenaPro Series speakers. I have been in the Pro Audio industry for over 15 years and never have I heard speakers like these.

I have this one annual gig in the LA area that I should really give up. But I like the people, and the nature of the event lends itself to trying new gear, so it is a great Road Test opportunity. In fact, in the five years I have been doing the gig I don’t think we have used the same speaker system once. This year, the boys at Spectr Audio got the call. After going back and forth a few times on the requirements of the gig, we agreed on a configuration.

On a recent trip to the Spectr Audio factory, I had the chance to hear several of their speaker products. I was equally impressed listening to the AP16 as I was listening to the new LeraSonic line array.
